YellowBullet Nationals...an event that is still as relevant today as it was in 2010

It has become a rarity within the drag racing community that a race continues to be as relevant almost two decades after it began, but YellowBullet Nationals defies those odds.

This year I spent yet another Labor Day weekend at Cecil County Dragway for what was the 17th annual YellowBullet Nationals. A once a year get together of some of the best of the best in all of drag racing. When we ran the last pair of cars down the track on Sunday evening, I sat back and thought to myself how relevant this even still is in an ever changing world that is drag racing.

Monty Mikho started this event in 2010 at Cecil County Dragway, and it has continued there every year since then (except 2020) and made up for that by having a spring YellowBullet race in 2021. If you are new to the drag racing world, you may not have been exposed to the amazingness that was YellowBullet.com when Monty was still the brains at the helm. It was the height of automotive forums, before everything moved to social media.

The website was where all of us spent most of our work days hanging on and learning amazing tech, sharing ideas, and ripping the shit out of everyone. The “Newbie” thread was the first thing you absolutely had to do as a new member on the site. The site grew to such a huge thing that the natural progression was to have a race that beared its name as well.

My first year covering this event was in 2014 and I have covered every YellowBullet Nationals race since then. 2026 was the 17th running of the event and featured classes like Pro Mod, Pro275, LDR, Ultra Street, Little Gangster’s, Outlaw Imports, Warriors, Top Sportsman, 8.50 Index, Pro Dial, and 10.00 index.

2026 YellowBullet Nationals featured winners like Fletcher Cox, Mo Hall, Jamie Hancock, and more. On Saturday the stands were packed with fans that love racing action, love Cecil County, and bring an atmosphere that is worth experiencing for yourself. Of course earlier in the week the weather was miserable. Too damn hot and humid, but that didn’t stop racers from coming to the party and laying down incredible times from Thursday through Sunday.

Last year I believe it was, Monty decided to add Outlaw Import cars to the event. These are old school imports with tiny engines that run 6 and 7 second quarter mile passes all while appearing to be completely out of control due to their super small wheel base. The crowd goes nuts over these cars, and the teams that come with them are standing on the starting line getting excited on every pass like they set a world record even on a pass that is about the same they ran the previous run.

I get asked every year what races are must attend events for me, and every year YellowBullet is on that list. There is no event that I have covered more consistently than this event, with Lights Out and No Mercy coming in a close second and third respectfully. When asked why I go every year the answer is simple…it’s an amazing event at an amazing track, with great staff, great cars, awesome photographers, and it is such a fun time to be there. Monty, Maria, and David, along with their people make this event a family experience. Add to that all that they do for the kids on Sunday morning of the event with the giveaways and kids contests. Monty, Maria, David, and the rest at Cecil County feel more like family than just another drag race.

Come 2027, I will be at Cecil County Dragway on Labor Day Weekend for the 18th Annual YellowBullet Nationals and I would highly suggest that you do the same!
