The 2018 NHRA Pro Mod Season will be even better than last season...

We are here at Orlando Speedworld Dragway for the weekend covering the RPM Warm Up, and the only thing hotter than the temperature are the runs from these pro mods.

Danny Rowe's new Camaro

The 2017 season was nothing short of amazing when we look back at the performances of the pro mods, and based on what we are seeing here, 2017 was just the start. Not only are there multiple new cars on the property, but there are also seasoned vets who already seem to have their rides working right. Danny Rowe, Clint Satterfield, and Q80 are three of the big new car debuts this week.

Steven Whiteley's Cadillac

In testing earlier this week we saw Carl Stevens drop a 5.68 at almost 259 mph in Jim Bell's Camaro. The blower cars are really looking consistent as well. Pete Farber, Kenny Lang, Steve Matusek, and Melanie Salemi are just a few of the blower cars here making solid passes. The Whiteley family made the trip to get ready for Gainesville as well. Both Jim and his son Steve have gone A to B.

Doug Winters

The turbo cars, as usual, are putting up big mph numbers this week. Jeffrey Barker, in the Bahrain1 car is here testing with the help of Stevie Jackson. Sidnei, Michael, Shane, and others have made it down the track smooth at times and violent at other times. The Q80 car made some great testing passes, but are not competing in the 16 car shootout. Their times in the new Camaro are certainly field front running numbers though.

Given the fact that Gainesville is only a few weeks away, and there are already 34 cars entered in the pro mod field, it's safe to say that you will see some mind blowing times at Gainesville. I would not at all be surprised to see the record broken at the Gators this season. Let's not forget that Rickie Smith also dropped huge numbers here at Orlando last month as well. The quiet one in the off season seems to be Mike Castellana.

Certainly there are more stories coming out of the pro mod camps, and as soon as we can, we will be bringing them to you. So stay tuned to E3xtreme for the best Pro Mod news.
