HotLanta living up to it's name this weekend as NMCA & NMRA Invade Atlanta Dragway

To say it's hot and heavy at Atlanta this weekend for the 10th annual NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals would be a grave understatement. By the end of the day Thursday, the pits were packed and the quality of the competition is unparalleled.

NMRA and NMCA are two of the longest running drag racing series in the country, and this is the 10th annual combo race for the two series at Atlanta Dragway. With a plethora of makes, models, and generations of muscle on the property this weekend, there is literally something for everyone.  I have seen multiple Demons on the property, as well as Copo Camaros, Cobra Jets, Pro Mods, and damn near everything in between.

Some of the big stories coming into this weekend are some new builds. Jeff Rudolph is on the property with his new Larry Jeffers built pro mod Camaro, and Jackie McCarty is on the property with his brand new S550 radial Mustang. Both of these cars are works of art.

Most all of the NMRA and NMCA regulars are on the property this weekend as well. Andrew DeMarco brought out "White Girl Wasted" to take another shot at a win in Street Outlaw. Nine time World Champion John Urist brought his Turn14 backed Mustang all the way from the west coast to show the world that he's still got in and will be a force in the run for the championship.

Other big story is that NHRA Pro Stock legend Allen Johnson is here to compete in Holley EFI Factory Super Cars. It is great to see more of the NHRA superstars making their way over to the NMRA and NMCA to compete against some of the best drivers in the world as well. Look for Allen to be a player in the class as well.

Speaking of celebrities, none other than the Superbowl winning defensive beast Fletcher Cox from the Philadelphia Eagles. He brought Golddust to compete this weekend. Shawn Ayers will be again handling the driving duties. I spoke with Shawn yesterday and he seemed pleased with the way the car was handling after making some big off-season changes.

In Pro Mod, the horsepower runs deep as the pollen in the Georgia sky. 2017 World Champion Steve Summers, along with most of the 2017 pro mod field has come back this season. Don Walsh Jr, Camp Stanley, and as we previous mentioned the new car from Jeff Rudolph are just some of the new competitors to keep an eye on this season.
