NHRA Just KILLED Nitro & Pro Stock for the rest of 2020
/We at E3xtreme just received word this afternoon that NHRA sent a letter out to competitors laying out their payout plan for the remainder of 2020. It may single-handedly destroy nitro and pro stock classes for the remaining 2020 events.
NHRA has made some strange, even stupid moves in 2020, and I didn’t think that they were this far out of touch until I received a phone call, along with the letter that was sent out to the drivers. I am well aware of the monetary issues all sports are having this season, but when you cut the nitro purse buy $35k to the winner, one has to wonder if they even want nitro cars to show up.
Earlier it was announced that the 2020 purses would be cut from $50k to $35k, which is a 30% winner purse cut, but to now drop it another $20k is asinine, to say the least. Add these changes to the fact that so many people have been let go, and you really have to ask what kind of financial distress NHRA is really in. That will be something for you to ponder.
