Some more sponsor news coming out of the pro mod pits this weekend is from another champion caliber team. None other than “King Tut” Todd Tutterow has teamed up with AAP for the 2018 NHRA season.
As if the AAP wasn’t already on the verge of being considered a “super team” in the pro mod ranks, the addition of Todd to a team that now consists of he, Mike Castellana, Mike Janis, Richie Stevens, and Brandon Snider. A five-car team with the sole focus of class domination.
Todd is no stranger to success though, as he is well known throughout the pro mod world as one of the toughest competitors and an amazing tuner. Todd is also a former ADRL World Champion as well. He has race and been successful in the PDRA ranks lately as well.
Last season Todd ran a few NHRA events with his previous sponsor, but when that sponsor decided not to come back for the 2018 season, it was left upon Todd to regroup and find someone that was up for the task. In stepped AAP, which was and is the primary sponsor for the pro mod also sporting the #2 label this season, the blower car of Mike Castellana.
Yesterday (Friday) at the Gators, this team came out and already showed it force. After tow rounds of qualifying Todd was sitting in the #6 spot, while his teammate Mike was at #1, Mike Janis at #14, and Richie at #23 out of the 35 cars on the ladder. Brandon is not here this week as the car was not yet ready. With two more rounds of qualifying today, expect to see all four AAP cars in the field.
AAP is all about champions and based on the team they put together, Todd was just another natural fit for the championship contending team. We will keep you updated after round four of qualifying with any needed updates.
