Thursday at the YellowBullet.com Nationals

X275 Star Charles Hull

We are here at Cecil County Dragway this weekend to cover the 2016 YellowBullet.com Nationals put on by Monty, Maria, & David Mikho. This has become one the most must attend drag races every year and this year is no different.

We rolled into the track about 10am this morning after arriving in town last night. After receiving some calls last night, we had heard that the house was already packed, and when we pulled in this morning that was exactly the case. Both sides of the track were already loaded up with race cars, and the first round of qualifying doesn't event start till tomorrow evening.

Today was a scheduled test day though. Testing was suppose to happen from 10-6 today. Unfortunately we got some rain overnight and that caused the track not to be ready for cars at 10am. They pushed back till about noon today. I saw track owner Jim Halsey out there scraping the track this morning with his crew as well. Even though it was testing, Jim was going to  give these racers a great surface.

There were more racers from every class here than I could shake a stick at. Pro mod drivers Kevin Fiscus and Dean Marinis are both pulling double duty this weekend as well. Kevin will be driving his NHRA Pro Mod and the FKR radial car that just took the win at SCSN St. Louis last week, while Dean is here with his beautiful PDRA Pro Nitrous car along with the orange X275 beast of a Mustang.

Some of the biggest names in drag racing were on the property today from around the country. Rob Goss is here this weekend from the other end of the country. We saw Troy Pirez Jr. in the house today. The Bruders are on the property (unknown if their car is), Fletcher Cox owned and Shawn Ayers driven, Proline powered radial car is here with the one and only Chase Driskell helping the team out for the weekend. The KBX camp is well represented also, as Charles Hull and Joel Greathouse both made test passes today.

If you are looking for gear to wear there is plenty of that too. Jeff Salvato is here with all you X275 needs, along with Proline having their gear here too. Induction Solutions is all set up and ready to help you as well.

As far as testing went, there were a lot of cars that sat out today and just took time to get their cars ready for the weekend and get their pits all set up. Kevin and Dean both passed on doing on testing today. Local Pro Mod heavy hitter and PDRA star Chris Rini was in the house and making test passes. He cracked off a 3.84 late in the day that should put a lot of the other Pro Mod entries on notice. David DeMarco's Buick was testing some setups and trying to get it all straight for the weekend. For the first time in 7 years, the OG Scotty G had slicks on the back of his Captain Morgan Camaro. He made a really solid test hit that shows he will be competitive in the Outlaw 10.5 class.

With weather in the evenings suppose to get pretty cool, I think we can see some astronomical numbers laid down this weekend as well. So make sure to stay tuned here and our Facebook page for ongoing updates.
